Birding at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati Campus

I have noticed several new bird species like White-rumped Shama, Green-billed Malkoha, Crested serpent eagle, White-browed Fantail, etc. initially I was confused between White-browed fantail and fantail flycatcher, later on, confirmed that was White-browed fantail. when I was decided to take pictures of White-browed fantail pair it seems very friendly to pose, a female was very shy and did not come out from the bushes.

Green-billed Malkoha is a shy bird and perched deep in bushes, felt very difficulties to photograph. here are some photographs which I have taken on 14 April 2019 during the walk around the campus.

Common Iora

Magpie Robin

Black-hooded Oriole

Red-breasted Parakeet

White-breasted Kingfisher

Rufous Treepie

Jungle Babbler
Eurasian Tree Sparrow

Jungle babbler is the most common birds in the hilltop area, rufous treepie's number is also increased from the previous. Apart from these birds, many other birds were interesting to watch them such as:

Oriental white eye
Purple Sunbird
Red-vented Bulbul
Jungle Myna
Common Myna etc.
